Curriculum Development: Literacy and the Young Child

Did you know literacy begins at birth?  Sometimes even before.  Learn how the experiences you can easily provide on a daily basis in child care can affect the school readiness of the children you care for.  There is no need to buy programs or have sit-down paper and pencil lessons.  Children are equipped to learn the skills needed through daily play in a properly prepared environment with support from the adults around them.  Let’s talk about developmentally appropriate practice in teaching reading readiness skills to young children.
