May 8th, 2026 is National Child Care Provider Appreciation Day!
On Provider Appreciation Day, we celebrate the dedicated, compassionate, and hardworking child care providers who play such an essential role in the lives of children, families, and our communities.
Child care providers are more than caregivers—they are teachers, nurturers, role models, and safe havens. They support working families, help children build confidence, encourage curiosity, and create environments where learning and growth happen every single day.
They are the ones tying shoes, wiping tears, leading circle time, planning activities, and somehow turning everyday moments into meaningful learning experiences. They show patience on the hardest days, celebrate the smallest victories, and make a lasting impact that reaches far beyond the classroom.
On Friday, May 8th we will recognize the vital role child care providers play in supporting the workforce, strengthening families, and shaping the future—one child at a time.
There are so many meaningful ways to celebrate the child care professionals who make a difference every single day—whether you’re a parent or an appreciative community member. Here are a few simple ideas to make the day extra special:
Help a child create a handmade card.
Record a video with you and your child, highlighting your appreciation, then send it to your provider.
Share with other families about the appreciation day, you can coordinate a moment of recognition for your child care provider.
Businesses can offer a discount on goods and services on this special day.
Write a letter to your local newspaper recognizing the essential work of child care professionals.
To all child care providers: thank you for your heart, your dedication, and the incredible work you do. You are truly appreciated today and every day.
