The Road to Being Trauma-Informed: Childhood Trauma, Poverty, and Trauma-Informed Care.
Nick Ferranti, EAP Consultant at Adirondack EAP, will join the lineup for our Spring Lecture Series as the first presenter. This workshop will analyze the contributing factors to trauma, such as Adverse Childhood Experiences and poverty, as well as the different ways trauma manifests in human behavior. Participants will learn practical skills for acknowledging and responding to symptoms of trauma in a delicate manner, centering on the six key principles of trauma-informed care.

Difficult Behaviors and Brain Differences-How Prenatal Exposure to Alcohol Effects the Brain
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is the leading cause of developmental and learning disabilities worldwide. One-in-twenty school-aged children in the U.S have been prenatally exposed to alcohol. Most are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. In this workshop, you will learn how to recognize the symptoms of FASD and explore strategies to accommodate and support individuals with FASD and/or any brain-based disability.
