Session One: May 7 Developmental Screening: Approaches and Impacts with Sarah Gould-Houde (Conference Presenter)

Developmental screening is a simple approach to gathering data on a child that can be used to aid their daily programing, as well as provide information to discuss further support as needed with families. If you have ever wondered why and how you could approach developmental screening in your program, this session is for you.

Session Two: May 14 Draining Off High Intensity Emotion and Behaviors with Jeanine Fitzgerald (Conference Keynote Speaker)

When in high intensity, children become inflexible in their thinking and explosive in their patterns of behavior. “Shocking” words and hurtful or harmful reactions are almost always present as the process escalates. It is at this point that professionals and parents fall into the trap of focusing on the intensity which results in a perfect storm. This session explores the stages of escalation and the language that restores calm and effectively deals with the unresolved trigger.

Session Three: May 21 Helping Children Resolve Conflict & Manage Anger with Scott Noyes (Conference Keynote Speaker)

Session Four: May 28 Behavior: Understanding the Why Before Fixing the What with Peggy Hoime (Conference Presenter)

This workshop helps caretakers understand what children’s behavior is really communicating. Participants will learn to distinguish between temperament, developmental stages, stress responses. Participants will learn to identify possible triggers, and respond in ways that support growth rather than simply correcting behavior.
