Protecting Children’s Health Against Environmental Hazards in Child Care
April 10th, 2024
Hester Paul
OCFS Training Topic Areas: (2),(4)

High-quality child care must protect both children and staff from environmental hazards. Environmental health is key to ensuring children and the people who care for them, are free from exposure to pollutants like lead, harmful chemicals in household products, and poor indoor air quality. These environmental hazards are often found in child care settings. Research shows this exposure is linked to acute and chronic illnesses like low IQ, asthma, and childhood cancer. This session will highlight the Children’s Environmental Health Network’s (CEHN) Eco-Healthy Child Care® program and describe CEHN’s work towards creating systems change.
