Resilience! The Key to Every Child’s Success

March 21 Peggy Hoime OCFS Training Topic Areas: (10)

Edith Grotberg, a senior researcher with the International Resilience Project says, “Resilience is important because it is the human capacity to face, overcome, and be strengthened or even transformed by the adversities of life.” Success in life is never a simple path from A to B. Even if you do everything right, there will be twists and turns along the way. The key to success is to view those bumps in the road as minor setbacks and opportunities for growth, not insurmountable obstacles. For children to succeed long-term, they need to have the resilience to bounce back from challenges and failure. As teachers and caregivers, we are the gatekeepers of future generations. We have the power to impact our children’s lives, not just for a year, but for a lifetime. The question for us then becomes, how can I help my children become more resilient? Let’s teach our children how to be resilient so they can grow up being the best version of themselves and become the leaders we will want to follow. This session will give you practical tools to teach children how to be resilient so we can set them on the path where they can fully live and reach their full potential.
